The Walk began as a community project to commemorate members of our armed forces. Images and stories of loved ones were collected and used to create the artwork you see on this website. This artwork was installed as signage that followed the beautiful pathways of the A. A. MacDonald Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. During the pandemic of 2020, the Walk of Heroes became a way for the community to share in their love and respect of our heroes, while maintaining social distancing.
The Walk of Heroes has evolved into the virtual site you see before you. By bringing these heroes and their stories to the internet; we are creating the opportunity to educate, honour and celebrate these men and women with an even larger community.
